WordCamp Session Recommendations For Non-Technical Attendees

WordPress Training Sacramento

There are A LOT of people who dismiss WordCamp because they think it’s only for developers, designers, and techies, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

I’ll be honest… I skipped many of the first WordCamps Brian attended because I thought they were more for developers. But then I took a chance, went with Brian to a WordCamp, and I was blown away. And not just by the content and sessions (which were amazing), but by the people. And yes, there were plenty of sessions for non-developers to attend, just as there are at WordCamp Sacramento.

In Fact, we have an entire day dedicated to beginner sessions, and a variety of non-technical sessions the next day to help you improve your content, website, search engine rankings, and more.

Check out our WordCamp session recommendations for non-techie attendees below.

How To Avoid Mind-Numbing Overwhelm At WordCamp

Avoid Overwhelm At WordCamp

If you have looked at the WordCamp Sacramento Schedule, I’m sure you’ve noticed that there are A LOT of sessions to choose from and A LOT of content to absorb. And, if when checking out the schedule, you felt a little overwhelmed, that’s okay! You’re not alone.

I go to a lot of conferences and rarely do I ever sit in every single session, one after another, all day long. Not only because my brain needs a break to process what I have heard and learned so I actually remember it later, but also because I need a break! Trying to take in every scrap of information is a recipe for overwhelm. So instead, I pick and choose the sessions that sound the most interesting to me and take a break when I need to.

If you’re like me, and you want to get the most out of your WordCamp weekend without experiencing mind-numbing overwhelm, I’ve got some tips to help:

The Number One Thing You Should Do At WordCamp

Number One Thing To Do At WordCamp

There will be around 500 attendees at WordCamp Sacramento… that’s a lot of opportunity.

Now I’m not talking the sleazy, sales-pitch-fest opportunity — no self-promotion or sales from the stage is actually allowed at WordCamps. I’m talking about the opportunity to expand your network, meet new people, and open new doors.

At WordCamp Sacramento 2015 and 2016, some pretty amazing things have happened:

  • Designers found developers to partner with and developers found designers.
  • New partnerships and new companies/agencies were formed.
  • Clients found designers and developers to work with, which means developers and designers found new clients.
  • Attendees made connections that lead to interviews and new jobs.
  • Agency owners made connections that lead to new subcontractors and new employees.
  • Attendees met other WordPressers that live nearby and formed mastermind groups and peer support groups to share code and help each other out.

Get Your Ticket Today

All of these opportunities came about because attendees did one specific thing…
