Why Is This Important?
I submitted this talk because there are many ways to get subscribers. I think there are a lot of people out there talking about ways to get subscribers and build your list but they speak in hypotheticals and at too high of a level. I wanted to provide a quick and easy no frills way of giving people the tactics to gain more subscribers and build your list.
How Did You Discover WordPress?
I discovered WordPress after being frustrated with Blogger. I was an avid daily blogger in a previous life, and one of the things I enjoyed was being able to go in and tweak the look and feel of the site. Blogger was too limiting for my needs and there was this new thing called WordPress that popped up in a Google search. Eventually, I made the switch and never looked back.
How Do You Use WordPress?
I began using WordPress in 2006 and have done everything from plugin/theme development to building products that support WordPress. I currently use WordPress to build sites for freelance clients, I build hosting products for WordPress, and have recently acquired a WordPress plugin that I devote a lot of my free time to building and make successful.
How Has WordPress Impacted You?
It’s had a profound impact on my career and life. It’s funny. I used to joke saying that I eat, breathe and sleep WordPress. More and more, I’m starting to feel like that’s actually truth! I have developed long lasting relationships with many people in the WordPress community, some are my closest friends.
What Do You Do When Not Working?
Well as you can imagine, that WordPress takes a lot of my time. That said, I love spending my time with my family, including our 1 year old daughter. In Michigan, we only have so many months we can really enjoy being outside, so we spend a lot of our time outside and at the family lake house. I have interests in starting new businesses, photography, drones, music and helping people do what they are passionate about.
